The Reverend Dennis R. Hebert, Sr. has been and is the honorable Pastor of the True Light Baptist Church since December 5, 1989. He is the husband of First Lady Doris Batiste Hebert, father of four children, and eight grand children.
He is a native of East Baton Rouge Parish, a graduate of McKinley Senior High School with further study at Christian Bible College of Baton Rouge.
Pastor Hebert is a devoted and dedicated servant of God who has aided the Church in its growth through the formation of a number of ministries and religious services, such as: the Senior Citizens and Retirees program, the Youth Ministry, the Youth in Christ Summer Program, the Transportation Ministry, the Beautification Ministry, Feed the Needy, the birth of a 7:45 a.m. Service called “The Hour of Power” and within the last few years, “Men of Praise” was organized, paying tribute to the males of the church.
He works in every capacity of the Church, while equipping the Saints to go out and win one more for Christ. He is devoted to Wednesday night Bible Study, where he teaches and preaches the Word of God. He is a strong believer in Christ holding steadfast to 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
Among his many affiliations are the Third District Bogue Chitto Association, Inc., the Louisiana Home and Foreign Missions Baptist State Convention, Inc., Finance Board, where he serves as its Chairman, and the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc.
For the first time in True Light’s history, Pastor Hebert initiated 50 days of prayer. Prayer time began on February 28, 2005 and ended on May 6, 2005. Since that time, the effects of fervent prayer has had a major impact on the Church family in so much as he has initiated forty days in the presence of God, which began on February 25, 2011 and ended on April 21, 2011.
